Rhodium is a rare metal (related to platinum) which has an almost 'mirror like' finish. Not only does it have this sparkling appearance... it's also very durable and is also hypoallergenic. Rhodium is very rare (and even quite brittle) and, in turn, really not feasible to make any kind of jewellery from it - hence the 'plating'.

What is IS brilliant for though is making your jewellery come back to life.
